Welcome from the President

Welcome to all Academicians and visitors to our website,

Thank you for visiting and for your interest in the work of the Academy. Below you will find a short description of who we are and our aims.

We are a small international group, founded in 1955, of doctors, scientists, nurses and other professionals in aviation and space medicine who bring together a considerable experience of its varied practice around the world.

This charitable organisation supports academic scientific exchange through conferences and uses its income from membership and other sources to provide scholarships and mentorship for those seeking training in this specialty. Our membership of Academicians is about 250, drawn from all the inhabited continents of the globe. Our aim is to support the advance of aviation and space medicine, particularly through training, especially in those parts of the world where such opportunities have been limited.

We have recently started a programme for Affiliates, with advice and mentorship to those new to the specialty. We welcome the first of these to the Academy. We are also active in our support to the forthcoming 69th International Congress of Aviation & Space Medicine, to be hosted in Abu Dhabi in October this year. We look forward to seeing many Academicians among the delegates from around the world at a regional “first” of interest and value to all in the practice of aviation and space medicine.

Please take a moment to explore our website and see something of what we do.
