Welcome from the President

Welcome to all Academicians and visitors to our website,

Thank you for visiting and for your interest in the work of the Academy.

We are a qualified international group, founded in 1955, of doctors, scientists, nurses and other professionals in aviation and space medicine who bring together a considerable experience of its varied practice around the world.

This non profit organisation supports academic scientific exchange through conferences and uses its income from membership and other sources to provide scholarships and mentorship for those seeking training in this specialty. Our membership of Academicians is about 250, drawn from all the inhabited continents of the globe. Our aim is to support the advance of aviation and space medicine, particularly through training, especially in those parts of the world where such opportunities have been limited.

By reviewing our website I am sure you will find very valuable information of your interest and I encourage you as an Academician or professional in the field of Aviation or Space Medicine to be updated in the Academy activities or apply for any of the possibilities or oportunities for training or mentorship arranged by our organisation.

Our current programme of Scholarship has been a very successful one almost since the begining, and thanks to this initiative, a quite large number of professionals have been trained in world recognised Aviation Medicine Organisations.

In addition to that the already started programme for Affiliates, with advice and mentorship to those new to the specialty, or more senior specialists who now have responsibilities that include aviation and space medicine. Both will be offered advice and support from the Academy and its Members (known as Academicians). One of the principle means by which this is achieved is through a mentorship programme where Academicians will interact with and provide guidance to an Affiliate as they develop knowledge and skills in aviation and space medicine.

We are also active in our support to the forthcoming 71st International Congress of Aviation & Space Medicine, to be hosted in Singapore in October 2025. We look forward to seeing many Academicians among the delegates from around the world, and please think about the submission of abstracts and do not miss the chance to visit the amazing and beautiful Singapore embedded in the interest and value of ICASM 2025.

As the new President I will continue the path established by our past Presidents, and pursue networking, and to find new and open directions under the appropriate strategic plan, and of course to strengthen the collaboration with other organisations, such as AsMA, ESAM, and National Associations.

We cannot forget new challenges to deal with, especially the common effort needed among all Academicians that it will necessary to prepare the new Constitution for re-registration as an incorporated Society in New Zealand.

Please take a moment to explore our website and see something of what we do. We will be very pleased to answer any questions, discuss any comments or points of interest, seeking for additional information. Do not hesitate to contact by any means of communication and do not miss the chance to meet us in any of the forthcoming Congresses announced in our website.
