The IAASM James T. Webb STEM Outreach Programme for ICASM 2025 saw the recognition of Temasek Polytechnic of Singapore and its senior lecturer Mr Chai Chia Hing (Diploma in Aerospace Engineering) for their excellence in the teaching of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects in Singapore.

A visit to Temasek Polytechnic by IAASM President and Secretary General, as well as the Organizing Chairman for ICASM 2025, was made on 24th October 2025. The visit was hosted by Temasek Polytechnic’s Deputy Principal Mr Aw Tuan Kee. Following a brief of the overall national educational landscape in Singapore as well as Temasek Polytechnic’s strong partnership with the industry and dedication in teaching students for Singapore’s workforce, a tour of the state-of-the-art facilities was conducted.

The facilities that were visited included the Advanced Manufacturing Centre, the Lufthansa Technical Training Centre, the Engine Training Workshop, the Aviation Research Centre as well as the Skylab (which housed the flight simulator and mock-up of Singapore Changi Airport aerodrome). At the Skylab, there was a lively discussion and interaction between IAASM President and Secretary General with the school’s students. The tour concluded with IAASM President and Secretary General thanking the team from Temasek Polytechnic for taking time out to host the visit.

The letter of recognition and award were given out by IAASM President to both Temasek Polytechnic and Mr Chai respectively at the ICASM 2025 Opening Ceremony on 27th October 2025. Mr Chai Chia Hing is the proud recipient of 2025 IAASM James T Webb award for setting new standards for teaching and learning STEM subjects, demonstrating strong domain knowledge and infusing technology and experiential learning to inspire his students to pursue STEM careers with a focus on aviation.
